How to Bag Discounts When Planning Your Holidays

Annual holidays are costly and require a great deal of planning. On the exterior, you may see a happy family standing in front of the Eiffel Tower, but you can’t really tell exactly the effort put behind making it happen. You have to work hard towards the planning and spend a significant sum of money to go on a vacation. But the end reward should keep you motivated. Traveling the world gives immense pleasure and we must never let anything discourage us from packing our bags and heading out to explore planet Earth. If finances are an issue for you, then you have arrived at the right place. In this article, I share ways to bag discounts when planning the holidays.

  1. Profession Discounts

Doctors, army officials and government employees do get offered discounts simply for their title. Normally such discounts are given on hotel rooms to attract customers and build loyalty. Make sure you always ask if such a discount is applicable.

  1. Discounted Air Tickets

Finding cheap airfare is the biggest challenge to date for budget travelers. Having traveled multiple countries over the years, I seem to be getting the hang of it by now. First off, discounted airfare deals are more likely to be found way in advance of the trip. As the departure date draws closer, the fare will rise. So you have to be a vigilant planner. You can’t procrastinate and put off booking the flight. There is a high chance that an air ticket to Brazil in December will be on a discounted rate in January. The fare will most likely rise with time.

One of the most common ways to bag discounts on airfare is the redemption of airline miles. You can join a frequent flyer program and earn miles over time. At a later stage, if you have a certain number of miles saved, you can exchange them for a discount.

  1. Become an Elite Member

Becoming an Elite member or joining a frequent flyer program is highly recommended for all flyers. You get treated with numerous discounts and rewards including discounts on online shopping portals, partner restaurants, car rental deals, hotel rent and as mentioned before too, airline tickets.

  1. Off season discounts

Off season discounts are huge and probably the only discounts that make a significant difference in the budget of a traveler. Airfares and hotel rent drops dramatically during the off season. In addition, even the price for tourist activities is at an all-time low. Off-season varies from location to location and it is not even feasible at times so make sure you do your research before making a decision.

  1. Advance booking

Whether it is booking a hotel room, a car for rent, a historic tour or an air ticket, if you do it ahead of time, you will be better off. Sellers encourage advance booking which is why they offer discounts to coax the consumers to book early.
